About Athi River Medical Services (A.R.M.S)

The hospital was started in 1994 as a nursing home at Mutonguni area of Athi River (hence the nickname Mutonguni). This was the first medical facility with inpatient services in Athi River. The initial premises were rented and were not suitable for a medical institution.  This made the directors work hard to secure funds for putting up a suitable structure. In 1997 the company bought a plot in the Sofia area and started construction of the present-day Athi River Medical Services Hospital. The first phase was completed in 1998 and the institution moved from Mutonguni to Sofia in October that year. The second phase was completed in 2002 converting the nursing home to a hospital. In 2014 construction of phase three was started and was completed in 2015. At the moment it is a fully-fledged hospital with 45 beds, theatre, x-ray, ultrasound, pharmacy, laboratory, dialysis unit, and all primary health care services.

The hospital is served by a team of competent and committed staff who are eager to serve and care for all. We continuously provide professional services to those in need, maintain our core values, and keep a high and uncompromised standard to all in our care. We are also committed to our community.  We have therefore organized free medical camps in the surrounding area and take part in various social activities within Athi River.
